Minnesota Vikings sign NFL veteran Cordrea Tankersley

The Minnesota Vikings added some more help by signing Cordrea Tankersley to the practice squad.

NFL veteran Tankersley worked out for some teams, including the Indianapolis Colts, before landing with the Vikings. After being activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list, he was previously released by the Miami Dolphins.

He joins a Vikings defense, ranking 29th in total defense. The Vikings are allowing 29.3 points each game with offenses generating explosive plays in the secondary.

Tankersley, drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Dolphins, has NFL experience. He. He started 11 games as a rookie with 31 tackles and 7 pass breakups.

However, his NFL career have been hindered due to injuries. He had a torn ACL having limited his last year’s season and has appeared in only 17 NFL games.

Tankersley is one of the bigger cornerbacks in the league and can play outside and cover some of the taller receivers on different pass concepts.

Before taking part in the NFL, Tankersley was a stellar athlete for the Tigers, played in 55 career games as well as thrived as a senior. He recorded 52 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 11 pass breakups. The impressive numbers made him a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award.

Coming from Aiken, South Carolina, Tankersley was rated four stars by the 247Sports Composite and ranked as No. 20 athlete, and No. 4 recruit, the No. 283 overall prospect out of South Carolina in the 2012 recruiting class.

The Vikings are coming off a big win over the Detroit Lions. Its head coach hopes that the team can head into the second half of the season.

The changes in the defensive scheme helped the team earn three interceptions. If Tankersley makes the active roster, it will be another playmaker for the team to limit the top offenses in the NFC North this season.
